BMW M4 CSL to debut May 20
BMW brings back the CSL nameplate for the latest track-ready M4 version

Coupe. Sport. Lightweight. CSL. In BMW M's history, only two cars have worn that three-letter nameplate – the 3.0 CSL, which is arguably the first true M car, and the E46 M3 CSL, considered as one of the greatest cars to ever come from Bavaria.
We've been waiting a long time for an all-new CSL model to come after BMW M boss Frank Van Meel confirmed as far back as 2017 that future M models will have the CSL badge.
Finally, on their 50th anniversary, a new CSL is coming, and it's called the M4 CSL. Together with teaser images of the special model, BMW has announced that the highly-anticipated sports car is making its debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on May 20.

BMW's photos only showed the headlights and taillights of the all-new M4 CSL, and no matter how much we tried to change the images' contrast settings, we weren't able to see the other design details of the new sports car.
The M4 CSL is rumored to use the revised version of the standard M4's twin-turbo 3.0-cylinder inline-six engine. From 503 PS in the M4 Competition variant, the CSL's power output will allegedly be bumped up to 550 PS.
As it is a CSL variant, the upcoming M4 will definitely go on a diet. How much weight does it aim to lose? Well, according to Markus Flasch, former CEO of BMW M, the brand was aiming for triple digits when he was at the helm. For reference, the standard M4 tips the scales at 1674 kg.
As it stands, the M4 CSL is set to compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm in the segment of track-ready performance cars and is expected to go on sale before 2023.
