BMW 7 Series PHEV gets approval from the LTO
The BMW X5 xDrive50e and X3 xDrive30e will soon be joined by the 750e xDrive

Last year, BMW received regulatory approval for an upcoming passenger vehicle that will be powered by a 2998cc engine. Based on the listing, it looks like the all-new 7 Series will get a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version. More importantly, this could also mean customers will be able to choose from three distinct variants of the 7 Series: ICE, EV, and PHEV.
Fast forward to 2025, and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has made it official after the agency homologated the plug-in hybrid version of the 7 Series. Based on a recent memorandum circular, the 7 Series PHEV will be called the 750e xDrive and will have a 2998cc six-cylinder engine that's assisted by an electric motor that puts out 144.7 kW or around 197 PS.

A quick check at what other markets get and the 750e xDrive comes with a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six that generates 306 PS with 450 Nm of torque and is helped by an electric motor that puts out an additional 197 PS and 280 Nm of torque. The result is a combined system output of 490 PS and 700 Nm of torque, which is what the X5 xDrive50e also pumps out.
Size-wise, the 750e xDrive measures 5389mm long, 1950mm wide, and 1554mm tall with a 3215mm wheelbase. It will also have massive 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45 series tires. When it comes to recharging the PHEV's battery, the listing claims the 750e xDrive can be recharged to full in three to four hours.

With the BMW 750e xDrive already cleared by the LTO for the Philippine market, it won't be long before the SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. officially unveils the plug-in hybrid 7 Series. We won't be surprised if the automaker decides to launch it in Q3 2025.
