BlackBerry knows if your tires, brakes pads are worn out

Most of the younger generation may not know what the BlackBerry brand is but for those old enough to remember, it was one of the cellphone brands to have before the age of smartphones and its models were the first ones with QWERTY keyboards.

Now, the same company behind those memorable phones are now working to provide software solutions for automotive manufacturers. In the recent Consumer Electronics Show, BlackBerry exhibited its IVY in-vehicle platform software.

To keep it simple, the BlackBerry IVY is an AI-based software that uses data from the vehicle to predict the service life of parts that sensors are not able to recognize, such as tire and brake pad wear.

So how does the BlackBerry IVY do that? Basically, the software gathers data from things like the throttle and wheel speed sensors to record acceleration, deceleration, and the brake force applied to the vehicle. Afterward, the AI system analyzes the data, then predicts the wear status of tires and brakes by displaying numerical values, or the percentage left.

In addition, aside from predicting the life expectancy of brakes and tires based on driving style, the AI-based system also provides parameters on proper acceleration and braking.

The BlackBerry IVY not only provides predictice real-time information about your tires and brakes, but it could also teach you how to be a smooth driver.
