BIMS 2026: Porsche Cayenne Electric arrives in SE Asia with 1,156 HP

Porsche’s SUVs have never felt like ordinary SUVs. They steer with precision, surge with thrilling speed, and stick to the road with razor-sharp control. The Cayenne Electric keeps that spirit alive, making its regional debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show

Sitting at the top of Porsche’s EV lineup, the Cayenne Electric offers over 640 km of range on a single charge, up to 400 kW of fast-charging power, and comes in two variants: the standard Cayenne Electric and the Cayenne Electric Turbo. Both feature dual electric motors providing all-wheel-drive and Porsche’s electronic Porsche Traction Management (ePTM).

Power and Performance

The Cayenne Electric is powered by a high-voltage 113 kWh battery with double-sided cooling for optimal efficiency. This energy feeds dual electric motors that produce up to 1,156 HP and 1,500 Nm of torque in the Turbo variant when Launch Control is activated. For everyday driving, the Turbo delivers 857 HP. 

Acceleration figures are astonishing: the Turbo Electric sprints from 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, hits 0–200 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and has a top speed electronically limited to 260 km/h. The standard Cayenne Electric generates 408 HP normally, or 442 HP with Launch Control, achieving 0–100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h.

Regenerative Braking and Charging

Porsche claims Formula E-level energy recovery, with up to 600 kW of regenerative braking. In regular driving, 97% of braking is handled by the electric motors, greatly extending brake pad life.

Range is equally impressive: the Turbo covers up to 623 km per charge, while the standard model reaches 642 km. With an 800V architecture, the EV recharges at up to 400 kW. A DC fast charge from 10% to 80% takes less than 16 minutes, while just 10 minutes of charging adds up to 325 km of range (315 km for the Turbo). The Cayenne Electric is also Porsche’s first EV to support wireless inductive charging, rated up to 11 kW.

Design and Aerodynamics

The Cayenne Electric combines Porsche’s iconic proportions with a fresh design language. Features include slim Matrix LED headlights, contoured wings, frameless doors, a continuous LED rear light strip, and an illuminated Porsche badge. The Turbo model gets exclusive Turbonite finishes on emblems and trim.

Optional Porsche Active Aerodynamics adjusts airflow in real time with movable air flaps, adaptive roof spoiler, and active rear aeroblades on the Turbo, enhancing range and stability at speed. Additional aero features include air curtains, a nearly enclosed underbody, special wheels, and a rear diffuser.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Cayenne Electric features Porsche’s Flow Display, a curved OLED panel that integrates a 14.25-inch instrument cluster and optional 14.9-inch passenger display. The infotainment touchscreen complements the setup, while a heads-up display with augmented reality projects an 87-inch visual field 10 meters ahead. Porsche retains physical buttons for key functions like HVAC and audio volume for intuitive control.
