BIMS 2026: Isuzu unveils track-prepped D-Max for one-make race series
Isuzu D-Max race truck unleashed with 285 PS and 507 Nm of turbo-diesel muscle

Isuzu has unveiled a top-tier prototype racing machine built to compete in the Isuzu Challenge Thailand 2026, showcasing the brand’s motorsport DNA and engineering prowess.

Based on the Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Ddi MaxForce, this race-prepped pickup delivers 285 PS and 507 Nm of torque, with power routed through a BK Racing clutch and a limited-slip rear differential for precise traction.

Handling is sharpened by a Penske 2-way suspension system paired with custom leaf springs at the rear. Braking performance is ensured by the Neotech EVO-R system, featuring six-pot front calipers with massive 360 mm rotor discs and 4-pot rear calipers, complemented by Ferodo brake pads.

To get maximum traction on the track, the race pickup rides on 18-inch, lightweight, forged wheels fitted with Toyo Proxes Sport 2 tires (275/40 R18), the official tires of the Isuzu Challenge with Aerodiscs mounted on the rear wheels to further reduce aerodynamic drag and even help fuel efficiency.

Pickups aren’t exactly known for their aerodynamic efficiency, but here, airflow is a defining consideration. Drawing cues from GT race car styling, the bodywork is enhanced with a full aero kit by Tera Engineering, designed to manage air more effectively while elevating both form and function.

Highlights of the aero package include a redesigned front bumper with integrated vents for enhanced engine and brake cooling, complemented by an aggressive wide front splitter, an adjustable rear wing, and a specially designed tonneau cover with integrated aerodynamic fins. Complemented by wide fenders, side skirts, and a rear diffuser, each aero element works in unison to manage and channel airflow with precision.

Inside, the stripped-out cabin is purpose-built for racing, featuring an FIA-compliant roll cage, bucket seats with multi-point harnesses, a window safety net, an automatic fire suppression system, and a Zestek racing steering wheel, delivering everything the driver needs, and nothing they don’t.

Innovation goes a step further with the integration of a telemetry system that records driving data and provides real-time insights into both engine and driver performance, marking the first use of such technology in a one-make racing series, with benefits that extend from improved driver feedback to more precise performance analysis and race strategy.
With this prototype race-bred pickup, Isuzu showcases its dedication to motorsport excellence, seamlessly blending high performance, cutting-edge technology, and race-ready engineering into one exhilarating package.
