Bentley unleashing 750 PS for its last-ever W12 engine

There was a time when Bentley and the W12 engine were inseparable. Whenever you hear the words W12, chances are people talk about what's under the hood of a certain modern Bentley model. However, that won't be the case starting next year.

Bentley has announced they will no longer make a 12-cylinder engine by April 2024, ending the production run of their 6.0-liter, twin-turbo powerplant that was first introduced in 2003.

The decision comes with the manufacturer's aim to become a leader in sustainable luxury mobility. But that doesn't mean the British manufacturer won't simply let its beloved engine ride off into the sunset without giving it a proper farewell. Their plan? Unleash the most powerful W12 engine for the last time.

Development work has already concluded on the final Bentley W12, and the engine will find its way to 18 examples of the Mulliner Batur luxury coupe. As for its official figures, the final W12 engine will produce 750 PS, while its 1000 Nm of torque is accessible between 1,750 rpm to 5,000 rpm.

Meanwhile, the equally potent 650 PS variant of the W12 remains available for Bentley's Continental GT, Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT Mulliner, and Flying Spur Mulliner until production ends in 2024.

As part of Bentley's electrification plans, the W12 will be succeeded by V6 and V8 hybrids before the manufacturer goes full-electric by 2030.
