Baby Palisade: 2024 Hyundai Creta refresh breaks cover

A few weeks ago, Hyundai gave us a preview of the heavily refreshed Creta where they shared the changes made to the crossover both inside and out.

Now, it’s time to know more details about it. Hyundai has officially launched the 2024 Creta in India, and indeed it’s been rearmed for battle in the tightly competitive subcompact crossover segment.

As seen from previous teasers, the refreshed Creta sports the new “Sensuous Sportiness” design language of Hyundai. The heavily redesigned front fascia looks more rugged and mirrors Hyundai’s preference for boxy styling. As a result, the rectangular grille, the full-width DRLs, and the quad-beam headlights make the Creta more like a baby Palisade.

Likewise, the rear gets connected LED taillights, a revised tailgate, and a new rear bumper. To top off the exterior changes, the Creta rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with a new design.

Much like the updated Tucson, Hyundai combined a 10.25-inch digital instrument monitor and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen into a single panel, with repositioned A/C vents as part of the completely new dashboard. The center console has a new dual-zone climate control unit, and thankfully, Hyundai chose to put in buttons, knobs, and toggle switches instead of a full touch panel for better ease of use.

The Indian market Creta is being offered with three engine options – a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated MPi gasoline paired to an IVT or a 6-speed manual, a 1.5-liter GDI turbo mated to a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-liter CRDi turbodiesel with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed auto. We’re yet to see if ASEAN markets will have the turbodiesel and GDI turbo engines available for this update, as the plant in Indonesia where Hyundai Motor Philippines sources the Creta is only making the crossover with the 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated Smartstream G engine shared with the Stargazer.

While the Creta is still relatively new in the Philippine market, we know that Hyundai Motor Philippines isn’t holding back on giving updates to their new models, as we’ve seen with the dashboard update for the Stargazer and the Stargazer X. The only question now is when will the ASEAN market have the refreshed Creta. Hopefully, it won’t take long.
