Baby Lexus: All-new LBX crossover coming June 5

Lexus is having a busy 2023. After rolling out the all-new LM luxury MPV at Auto Shanghai, they are scheduled to reveal both the all-new TX midsize crossover and the all-new GX SUV this year. But as it turns out, there's one more (baby) Lexus coming.

What we're talking about is the all-new LBX. And yes, it's the first time Lexus gives a three-letter nameplate to its standard models since the LFA. However, this upcoming model won't be a supercar. Like the all-new LM, TX, and GX, Lexus is giving away very scarce details about the upcoming model, but the name somehow gives us some clues.

The 'X' name suggests a crossover or a high-riding SUV, plus the 'B' may have been used to indicate it's a B-segment crossover and to separate it from the LC300-based LX SUV.

The Japanese luxury carmaker teased a few details about the all-new LBX's front and rear end, showing the new frameless intake, and a headlight design that looks close to the Crown. Meanwhile, the rear end only shows the light signature of the upcoming baby Lexus.

Speaking of which, reports say the all-new LBX will be based on the TNGA-B platform – an architecture used by the Toyota Yaris Cross, along with its 1.5-liter hybrid and non-hybrid powertrains. Because of its size, it's likely to sit below the UX in the Lexus lineup.

Of course, we will get to confirm all these details once Lexus reveals the all-new LBX to the world on June 5.
