Auto China: 2024 BAIC BJ30 rugged crossover unveiled
BAIC's all-new BJ30 rugged crossover could be a serious segment fighter

BAIC unveiled the all-new 2024 BJ30 at Auto China in Beijing. The latest iteration of the crossover gets a more modern design and is positioned as a "light off-roader".

On the outside, BAIC says they designed the BJ30 based on the "square box" design concept. We think old habits die hard and we are very much reminded of the Jeep Renegade, albeit with a more digitalized five-hole star ring daytime running light belt face.
The matte black wheel arches which extend from the bumper and connected by the side trims work well in giving it an rugged off-road look.

On to the rear, it gets a very "LR4 vibe" especially on the D-pillar and tailgate. But somehow it ties well together and actually works aesthetically.
In terms of size, it measures 4,730 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, and 1,757 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

Inside, a large dual-screen setup comprising 10.25-inch and 14.6-inch monitors welcome occupants along with its modern rugged design. The seats can be configured in various ways. With the fron seats folded down, an optional bed accessory shown can be used for camping. While the rear seats can be folded flat to for more cargo space that extends up to 1920mm which can swallow extra large items you may want to carry. In addition, it features multiple anchor points for nets and other cargo fastening methods.

It will be powered by a 1.5T hybrid system that comprises a 1.5-liter turbochaged engine rated at 157 PS and 235 Nm of torque. It will be powered by a dual-motor setup which gives it all wheel drive capability. The combined output is said to produce 409 PS and 685 Nm of torque.
It will also feature the All-Terrain Control System to enable multiple driving modes, enhancing its adaptability across various terrains.
As with their other model releases, BAIC Philippines will rename the BJ30 as the B30 when it arrives in our market. The styling, size, and capabilities seem to make it serious contender once it arrives later this year.
