Audi offers backseat theme park with holoride
New in-car entertainment by Audi makes use of VR glasses made by holoride

Have you ever wished you were in a theme park instead of being stuck in traffic? Well, all you need to do is to ride in the backseat of an Audi, and it will take you there, virtually.
The German carmaker just made your next car ride a fun gaming experience, as they bring holoride virtual reality to their latest models' in-car entertainment system.
Holoride is a startup company co-founded by Audi. It delivers virtual content using the car's driving movements in real-time with Bluetooth VR glasses. Basically, it transforms your riding experience into an immersive multimodal gaming event, as the content adapts to driving movements, journey time, and driving route. For example, if the car turns right, the spaceship in the virtual world would also turn right. If the car speeds up, so does the virtual spaceship.
The technology is currently being shown at the South by Southwest (SXSW) music, film, and tech festival in Austin, Texas, which runs from March 11 to 20, 2022. Visitors of the event get to experience holoride in Audi's fully electric vehicles.

Beginning in June 2022, passengers in the back seat of an Audi will be treated to films, video games, and other interactive content made more realistic through virtual reality. Models with the latest modular entertainment toolkit (MIB3) will be holoride-capable. German, UK, and US markets get to experience holoride first, while other markets will follow later on.
