Audi adds Competition package for 2023 RS5

Apart from the mild facelift in 2020, the Audi RS5 hasn't seen many changes throughout the years. In fact, it's already nearing the end of its model cycle. However, Audi is saving the best for last.

For the 2023 model year, the Audi RS5 Coupe and Sportback will be available with the optional Competition package, unlocking the potential of Audi's all-wheel-drive sports car even further. No, the optional pack won't make it less road-legal than before, but the RS5 will sit lower, scream louder, and go faster with the Competition package.

Audi gives the RS5's exterior some high-gloss black trim and matte carbon fiber pieces on the car's front splitter, diffuser, and exterior mirror housings to go along with its carbon-fiber engine cover. A new RS Sport exhaust system features matte black tailpipes and gives the car a deeper exhaust note. Furthermore, the sound is much more profound as Audi reduced sound insulation between the engine compartment and cabin.

On the inside, an optional combination of Dinamica and Pearl Nappa upholstery is made available along with other details like red contrast accents and stitching.

In terms of its mechanicals, there's a new coilover suspension called RS Sport Suspension Pro, which will make the RS5 come out of the factory sitting 10mm lower than the standard RS models. In addition, owners can lower the car by a further 10mm if they choose to. There's a higher spring rate, three-way adjustable dampers, and stiffer stabilizers with the optional Competition package to unleash more track performance out of the RS5.

Apart from the suspension upgrade, the Competition package also makes the RS5 wear a set of Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, a retuned ABS software, and steering settings. Furthermore, the RS5 will still be powered by the 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo with 444 PS and 600 Nm of torque. But thanks to the Competition pack, the top speed is increased from 250 km/h to 289 km/h.

Audi expects to begin taking orders next month, and will also offer the optional Competition package to the RS4 Avant which will feature the same upgrades found on the RS5 Coupe and Sportback models. In the US market, the Competition package will cost an extra USD 16,100 (PHP 844,000).

As for the Philippine market however, PGA Cars has yet to announce details. But since Audi RS models are officially sold locally, we could see it offered here soon.
