Aston Martin Valhalla is a true gift from the gods

Earlier this year, Aston Martin revealed that the Valkyrie hypercar will be getting a street-oriented, baby brother called the AM-RB 003. At the time, we assumed it would be the official name as it was earlier referred to only as Project 003, but apparently, that wasn't the case. Instead, it'll be getting a better name, one more deserving for the vehicle – Valhalla.

Now, you've probably noticed that most Aston Martin vehicles have a letter 'V' at the start of their names: Vantage, Vanquish, Valkyrie, and now Valhalla. According to the company, the 'V' cars can be traced as early as 1952, when the Vantage designation was first given to high-performance variants of their cars time. It wasn't until in 2005, however, did the Vantage name become its own model.

“Aston Martin model names always attract a lot of attention. They do so because they invariably capture an emotion or tell a story. In following the Valkyrie we knew the Aston Martin Valhalla needed to make a strong statement of its own, yet also offer continuity and a clear connection. Norse mythology contains such powerful language and rich storytelling it felt only right that the AM-RB 003 should follow the Valkyrie’s theme,” said Aston Martin Lagonda president and CEO Andy Palmer.

Much like the Valkyrie, the Valhalla was co-developed between Aston Martin and Red Bull Advanced Technologies including renowned Formula 1 engineer Adrian Newey. Both cars also share a similar design, especially when looking at them from the front. However, the Valhalla does have a more toned down appeal. It looks less race-oriented and is more comfortable to use, similar to any other supercar you would find on the streets. It also appears to have a higher ride height which makes it more useable on the road.

The Valhalla will be powered by a 'high output' twin-turbo V6 engine combined with a battery-electric hybrid system. Power and performance figures have yet to be released, but we do expect it to be god-like mighty.

No mere mortal also will get the chance to own one. Aston Martin will only be building 500 units of the Valhalla, and expect each one to be very pricey.
