Aston Martin is building the "world's most powerful luxury SUV"
Aston Martin announces upcoming DBX variant to be "world's most powerful luxury SUV".

In a few weeks, Aston Martin will reveal a new high-performance version of their DBX SUV. The British marque has big claims regarding this model, declaring “it will be the world’s most powerful luxury SUV”. Clearly, Aston Martin is very confident with their upcoming model.
While the announcement is exciting, Aston Martin has yet to reveal what it looks like. The teaser video doesn’t show much either. We’re only given a glimpse of the SUV’s new wheels along with some of the carbon fiber bodywork, and that’s about it. One thing is certain; the engine it will use won't be the same one found in the standard DBX.
For reference, the current DBX available today uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG, similar to the Vantage. In the SUV, it’s rated at 550 horsepower and 700 Nm torque. A 9-speed automatic gearbox then sends power to all four wheels. There are no details about the engine yet. It could be that Aston Martin will use their in-house twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 on the SUV. In their V12 Speedster, that engine produces 700 horsepower and 753 Nm torque.
Assuming Aston Martin does use the V12, it will be enough to dethrone the Urus, which currently makes 658 horsepower from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. While the V12 engine might make more power, performance figures such as acceleration times and top speed are a different matter altogether.
Thankfully we won’t have to wait long to know more about Aston Martin’s new DBX variant, including its official name. The new super SUV will be making its global debut on February 1, 2022. We wonder if the upcoming high-performance DBX variant will live up to the hype Aston Martin has created, though.
