Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is a (rare) beast

Aston Martin bid the DBS lineup goodbye with the ultra-limited edition 770 Ultimate. After a teaser was released early this year, the British manufacturer has taken the covers off, and while it is not a full model change, the updates are noteworthy.

On the outside, the grand tourer gets a more aggressive front fascia with a more prominent front splitter, a redesigned hood with a new horse-shoe vent, and gills. Other additions include twill carbon fiber accents a redesigned rear diffuser, and 21-inch alloy wheels (in Satin Silver, Satin Black, and Satin Black with Diamond Turned finish). It uses Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires (265/35R21 in front and 305/30R21 at the rear).

The cabin gets a nameplate’s logo on the armrest and a sill plaque indicating its production number to emphasize its rarity. Sports Plus seats with quilt semi-aniline leather and Alcantara are standard, along with carbon fiber shift paddles. Performance seats are optional. If the interior still feels a little plain, owners can take it to Q by Aston Martin for further customization.

Under the hood is an upgraded 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine. It makes 770 PS (which explains the nameplate) and 900 Nm of torque. It is 45 PS more powerful than the regular DBS Superleggera and Volante. Drive goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Additional features include modified air and ignition pathways (which provide 7% more boost pressure) and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

The driver gets better response and feedback thanks to a new solid-mounted steering column and a modified suspension system with new calibration for dampers. It also has new software for the Adaptive Damping System.

Aston Martin will begin production of the DBS 770 Ultimate in the first quarter of the year and will only make 499 units - 300 coupés, 199 Volantes.
