Annual pavement repair of NLEX and SCTEX starts this month
NLEX Corp to repair 79K square meters of NLEX, over 18.7K square meters of SCTEX

Starting this February, the NLEX Corporation will begin its annual pavement repair in both the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). This year’s work will cover 79,086-square meters of NLEX while 18,718-square meters will be repaired along SCTEX.
Some stretches of pavement from Balintawak to Sta. Ines, and Tarlac to Tipo will be replaced in sections and overlaid with new layers of asphalt. Meanwhile, less damaged portions will undergo patching.
NLEX Corp. says that the annual pavement repair is set to be completed within Q2 of this year. But in order to ensure motorists will not be affected directly, the road repairs will be undertaken with traffic and lane management measures in place to ensure minimal lane closures and reduce travel delays. In addition, road signs and other warning devices will be installed to guide motorists passing near repair sites.
“Safety and convenience must go hand in hand in order to maintain a high level of customer experience. While we have frequent road inspections and repairs, this yearly program is more comprehensive and will vastly improve the quality of our roads for the benefit of thousands of motorists plying our expressways every day,” said J. Luigi L. Bautista, president and general manager of NLEX Corporation.
Aside from the road repairs, the tollway company is also upgrading and rehabilitating the Candaba Viaduct, San Matias Bridge, and Pasig-Potrero Bridge. They are also busy working on the 8-km NLEX Connector, an elevated expressway traversing the Caloocan Interchange along C3 Road/5th Avenue, Espana Boulevard, all the way to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
