Alpina now under BMW ownership
BMW Group adopts the brand's long-time independent tuner Alpina

Apparently, BMW isn't satisfied with just the M division making their performance vehicles, as they have now acquired an independent tuning firm that specializes in modifying their own models.
Alpina has been tuning and racing BMWs since 1965, and later on, they re-engineered the German automaker's existing models and sold them under their own brand. However, they are now under BMW Group ownership after both companies reached a deal.

“For over fifty years, the Buchloe firm has demonstrated how to deliver top-quality car cachet through meticulous attention to detail. The BMW Group is also driven by this same passion for cars that capture the imagination. That is why we are now embarking on a new chapter in our long-standing partnership.” said Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales of BMW Group.
BMW and Alpina have not disclosed any financial details about the transaction as it still needs approval from antitrust authorities. As a result, Alpina will continue building modified BMWs through the end of 2025 to honor their existing cooperation with the German carmaker.

Furthermore, service, parts, and accessories for existing and legacy BMW Alpina models will remain at the independent tuner's facility in Buchloe, while there will also be a further expansion of the existing development service business for BMW in that area.
With this acquisition, BMW now has two high-performance divisions under one roof, although no further details were revealed with regard to the German brand's plan with Alpina beyond 2025.
