Ford Philippines launches 2020 F-150, available in 4x2 Lariat or 4x4 Platinum variants

Ford Philippines has officially returned to the full-size pick-up truck segment with the 2020 F-150. Launched just a few hours ago, the F-150 range starts at PhP 2,698,000 with the 4x2 Lariat and ends with the top-of-the-line Platinum 4x4 which retails for PhP 2,998,000.
But what does the full-size pick-up trucks have that smaller midsize trucks don't? What makes the F-150 special when compared to the smaller Ranger? Well, we now have the official specs and variants of both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions of the F-150.

Starting with the exterior, both the Lariat and Platinum versions come with quad-beam LED headlights and LED foglights. Each one has a huge bold two-bar-style front grille that gives the F-150 its distinct face. The pick-up also has LED taillights, a bed-liner at the back with tailgate assist, and massive 20-inch alloy wheels. The ones on the Lariat have a six-spoke dark-alloy finish while the Platinum wheels are polished aluminum.
The Lariat has body-colored finishes on the grille, side mirror caps, door and tailgate handles, and running boards. Meanwhile, the Platinum has a satin aluminum grille, as well as a generous amount of chrome and brightwork that makes it stand out from the rest.

Hop inside the F-150, and the 4x2 greets drivers with a unique 'Lariat' finish on the instrument panel, media bin lid and doors, as well as on the leather seats. As for the 4x4, the Platinum gets genuine black ash wood trim accents, aluminum finishes on the center console, unique instrument panel gauges, leather-wrapped console lid, and gear selector, as well as full-carpet flooring with premium floor mats.

An 8-inch touchscreen media display with SYNC 3 provides in-car infotainment. It comes standard with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with subwoofer. Other standard amenities available in the Lariat and Platinum models include dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way climate-controlled power-adjustable front seats (with memory function for the driver), and leather upholstery.

Under the hood, both the Lariat 4x2 and Platinum 4x4 variants of the F-150 are powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. The six-cylinder pushes out 380 PS at 5000 rpm along with 637 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. Power is then transferred to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford claims the powertrain combination will prove to be efficient, but that remains to be seen.

Keeping the driver and passengers safe from harm while out on the road is done by the Ford Co-Pilot 360. Much like Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), the system has a wide array of intelligent safety features that include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert, trailer tow monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beam headlights.

Other key safety systems standard on the 2020 F-150 are a 360-degree around-view camera, active park assist, hill-start assist, trailer sway control, rain-sensing wipers, reverse parking sensors, roll stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, and a host of airbags for the front and rear passengers.
The 2020 F-150 will be available at Ford dealerships nationwide starting on June 25, 2020. The 4x4 Platinum will be available in four colors, namely: Agate Black, Blue Jeans, Iconic Silver, and Star White (extra PhP 15,000). The 4x2 Lariat, on the other hand, will come in the following hues: Agate Black, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, and Rapid Red.
