All-new Toyota RAV4 HEV gets DOE nod; launching soon?
Next-generation Toyota RAV4 inching closer to Philippine launch after DOE recognition

Remember when Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) received regulatory approval to bring a new passenger vehicle with a 2487cc gasoline engine? Based on what we've gathered so far, it looks like TMP is getting ready to launch the all-new RAV4. With the fifth-generation model already due for a full model change, it was only natural for the automaker to bring the all-new version.
We managed to take a look at the Department of Energy's (DOE) list of recognized hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), and a familiar name popped up. That's right, the DOE has officially recognized the sixth-generation RAV4, which means we may see TMP hold its launch later this year.

Based on what the DOE has on its list, it looks like there will be two variants of the all-new RAV4: the 2.5 ADV HEV AWD CVT and the 2.5 LTD HEV AWD CVT. Based on the model nameplates alone, the next-generation RAV4 will most likely be powered by the 2487cc (2.5L) A25A-FXS four-cylinder engine that's assisted by an electric motor and is paired with an e-CVT that drives all four wheels. Since it has AWD, we can expect the PH-spec RAV4 to put out 236 PS.
With the ADV and LTD variants already listed on the DOE website, it looks like we won't be getting the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) GR Sport variant, which generates an impressive 324 PS. Given that Toyota mostly sells HEVs in the Philippines, it's not surprising, although Toyota could be missing a key segment in PHEVs. After all, BYD was able to sell over 26,000 vehicles in 2025 with EVs and PHEVs, effectively making it the third-largest automaker in the country in terms of sales.

Will TMP first launch the all-new RAV4 HEV, or could they first debut the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid, which is also on the DOE's list of recognized HEVs? Let us know what you think.
