All-new MG HS to debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed
MG set to reveal all-new HS C-SUV at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed

In the compact crossover segment, the HS is MG’s main contender. While it’s only been six years since the first-generation model was launched, MG has decided to roll out an all-new model that could better compete against newer rivals in the class.
The automaker has announced the second-generation MG HS will debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Along with it is a video teaser that gives us a sneak peek of what the upcoming C-SUV could look like.

The second-generation MG HS is confirmed to appear similar to the third-generation Roewe RX5 that’s already being sold in China, as leaked patent drawings have surfaced on the internet prior to MG’s teaser video.

But to set it apart from the Roewe RX5, the new MG HS follows the similar shark-nosed front fascia that was done to the likes of the MG One, MG3, and MG7 sedan which were all previewed back in April’s Manila International Auto Show.

The side profile sees bulges on the rear quarter which makes it look athletic, and fender strakes that run up to the front door. It also sports stylish wheels finished in a two-tone chrome and black color scheme. At the back, the new MG HS now sports full-width LED taillights. The outer lenses project an X-style light signature that could be paying homage to UK’s Union Jack.

Meanwhile, we can expect the second-generation MG HS to be much bigger than its predecessor. While MG has not released the official dimensions of the new model, the Roewe RX5 measures 4655 mm long, 1890 mm wide, and 1664 mm tall with a 2765 mm wheelbase. The current-gen HS measures 4574 mm long, 1876 mm wide, and 1664 mm tall with a 2720 mm wheelbase.
As for its powertrain, the second-generation MG HS could have a choice of either pure ICE power, a plug-in hybrid, or fully electric propulsion based on reports. More details shall be confirmed as we move closer to the debut of the HS that’s scheduled for July 11.
