All-new Ford Everest starts at PHP 1.799 million

Prefer a 7-seater SUV instead of a pickup truck to haul your family and stuff? Aside from the brand-new Ranger, Ford Philippines has also officially revealed the next-generation Everest.

Launched alongside the Ranger pickup at Arcovia City in Pasig, the 7-seater SUV not only gets a similar exterior and interior makeover, but it's now powered exclusively by a new 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine and has plenty of high-tech cabin and safety features.

Just like its pickup sibling, the Everest receives a similar exterior redesign that consists of a C-Clamp LED headlights (halogens on lesser models), a stylish new grille, new LED daytime running lights, and a redesigned front bumper. But it is perhaps the rear that gets the biggest change. The SUV now comes with a new set of LED taillights with an L-shaped element that looks nothing like the C-shaped units from before. There's also no more faux skid plate as Ford opted for a cleaner, more urban look.

Other exterior changes present on the Everest include a thicker D-pillar, a smaller rear quarter window, and a new front fender badge design. When it comes to alloy wheels, the Trend and Limited models come with 18-inch alloys while the Sport and Titanium+ variants all roll with a 20-inch set.

Size-wise, the Everest measures 4904mm long, 2021mm wide, and 1884mm tall. The SUV also has a 2900mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 223mm which is slightly less than the Ranger's 235mm. Despite that difference, the Everest still has a water wading depth of 800mm.

Hopping inside and the interior of the Everest is similar to what you'd find in the Ranger. That means it has a massive portrait-style touchscreen at the center, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control (manual air-conditioning for the Trend), leather seats, and power-adjustable front seats.

Depending on the variant, the touchscreen infotainment can measure either 12-inches or 10-inches in size. Despite the size difference, both come with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The touchscreen is then complemented by an 8-speaker audio system.

Other available features inside the Everest include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, smart keyless entry with push-button start, LED ambient lighting, USB and 12V charging ports, 230V power inverter in the rear console, power-folding third-row seats (manual folding in lesser models), and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

As mentioned earlier, the Everest is now powered exclusively by a 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbo-diesel inline-four. The Trend, Limited, Sport, and Titanium+ 4x2 variants all come with a single-turbo setup that allows the engine to produce 170 PS at 3500 rpm and 405 Nm of torque at 1750 – 2250 rpm. All models are then connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Available only for the top-of-the-line Titanium+ 4x4 is the bi-turbo four-cylinder engine which cranks out 210 PS at 3750 rpm along with 500 Nm of torque between 1750 – 2250 rpm. Instead of a 6-speed automatic, the range-topping 4x4 has a 10-speed automatic.

When it comes to safety, all models of the Everest come with anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, hill-launch assist, rollover mitigation, parking sensors, electronic stability program, traction control, cruise control, and a reverse camera.

Available only for the top-spec Titanium+ 4x4 is the Advanced Driver Assist Technology which can also be found on the Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 A/T. This gives the SUV intelligent driver aids like adaptive cruise control with stop & go and lane centering, auto high beam, pre-collision assist, dynamic brake support, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping aid, reverse brake assist, and post-impact braking. It also comes with a tire pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, and hill-descent control.
