All-new Honda CR-V in camo spied in Thailand

Three weeks ago, Honda dropped the first teaser images of the next-generation CR-V. It's set to be revealed for the US market and looks like it will have an evolutionary redesign. We already saw what it might eventually look like thanks to patent images from China – meaning the teasers Honda USA released may have been for naught.

With Honda already gearing up to reveal the all-new CR-V for China and the US markets, it seems our closest neighbor Thailand is also busy testing the next-generation crossover for the ASEAN region. The 'H' badge at the front may have been covered, but this is the 2023 Honda CR-V for Thailand and the rest of Southeast Asia.

Spotted by our friends over at headlightmag, the crossover was seen wearing heavy camouflage while being driven on public roads. Despite the livery hiding most of the crossover's lines, we were still able to see some similarities from the teasers (and patent images) Honda revealed weeks ago.

First and foremost is its face. The unique honeycomb-like grille, sleek LED headlights, and lower air intake looks very similar to what we already saw some weeks ago. Even the side profile and windows look familiar to the ones we saw in China.

The LED taillights are also covered by camouflage. But if you can look past the livery, the redesigned clusters look like the ones from what the US-spec will have. We also managed to see the updated exhausts which are now integrated into the rear bumper.

Details about the CR-V's new powertrain options are not yet available. However, we can expect it to come with a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo derived from the Civic, as well as the e:HEV hybrid powertrain. It might also become available with an upgraded version of the plug-in hybrid powertrain first revealed nearly 2 years ago.

With Honda Thailand already busy testing the CR-V, it might not be long before the all-new crossover makes its way to other markets in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. But before that can happen, the next-gen crossover will have to make its world debut in the US first.
