All new BMW 5 Series, i5 EV coming this year
Upcoming BMW i5 will be available in sedan and wagon body styles

The current generation BMW 5 Series has been around since 2017 and has received multiple updates over the years. But for 2023, the next-generation model of BMW’s midsize sedan is set to take its place very soon.
BMW has announced the eighth generation 5 Series is coming this October and will feature a thorough redesign, electrified powertrains, and a new fully-electric i5 variant. While BMW has not revealed any exterior and interior details yet, the German manufacturer has already said there will also be a Touring version for the 5 Series, meaning the station wagon body style is back.
For now, BMW has only released a teaser image of the all-new i5 electric sedan, albeit still covered. However, we were able to see that the zero-emissions vehicle will get new LED daytime running lights in the form of vertical light signatures.
As expected, the 5 Series will have the latest BMW Operating System 8.5 with BMW Curved Display. Furthermore, the automaker announced the 5 Series will have flexible powertrain options, which are all reportedly electrified. It will have plug-in hybrid variants as well as petrol and diesel engines with 48V mild hybrid technology.
Meanwhile, the fully-electric i5 will be offered for the first time in the 5 Series’ 50-year history, along with a high-performance M model per tradition. The all-electric i5 will come as a sedan first, while the Touring version is scheduled to arrive in 2024.
As for the Philippines, BMW is currently expanding its model lineup. But since the 5 Series will arrive in October over in Europe, we could expect the model to arrive in the country sometime in 2024.
