All-new Bentley Continental GT Speed to debut with over 780 HP

Bentley is wasting no time in launching its all-new grand tourer. After a myriad of teasers, Bentley has officially announced they will be debuting the next-generation Continental GT this week. Better yet is the fact they will be first revealing it in its most powerful form yet, the Continental GT Speed.

It will be making its grand debut on June 25 (4:00 PM British Standard Time) and will be powered by the brand’s new Ultra Performance Hybrid Powertrain. With Bentley saying goodbye to the venerable twin-turbo W12, Bentley is looking ahead with electrification thanks to an electrified V8 powertrain for the Continental GT Speed.

While the automaker is not yet ready to reveal the grand tourer, they confirmed it will have a healthy 782 PS and a staggering 1,000 Nm of pulling power. The outgoing W12 made 659 PS and 900 Nm of torque. The increase in power was made possible thanks to a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 assisted by an electric motor and a high-capacity battery pack.

Did we mention Bentley also claimed the Continental GT Speed was able to achieve an unofficial “underwater speed record?” The vehicle was able to reach its 335 km/h top speed in the longest subsea road tunnel and deepest tunnel in the world - the Ryfylke Tunnel in Norway.

Besides having one heck of an electrified powertrain, the hybrid engine also translates to fewer carbon emissions. Bentley says the new Continental GT Speed emits less than 50g of CO2 per km based on the WLTP cycle. Even more impressive is the fact the Continental GT Speed will have an electric-only range of around 80 km with a fully-charged battery. That means Bentley’s new high-performance luxury GT will be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Ahead of its official launch later this week, Bentley has also announced the new Continental GT Speed will have all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential, a 48V electric anti-roll control, and dual-valve dampers - resulting in the most dynamic Bentley yet.

Style-wise, the new Bentley Continental GT Speed will have a muscular exterior that appears to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. It will have the brand’s signature grille at the front while the LED headlights appear to have been derived from the Bacalar first revealed in 2021. The LED taillights, meanwhile, seem to have lost the signature quad design in favor of a simpler look.

With Bentley set to debut the all-new Continental GT soon, those looking to get one will be in for quite the surprise once the covers are taken off.
