All-new 2025 Toyota Camry is proof midsize sedans are here to stay

SUVs, MPVs, and pickup trucks may be all the rage today, but midsize sedans continue to be a regular sight on the road. Despite midsize sedans not being as popular today, they are still the preferred vehicles for those who like to be chauffeured or drivers who want something bigger than a hatchback or a compact car.

Across the Pacific, the Toyota Camry continues to be a popular choice among buyers. In fact, it was the fifth best-selling vehicle in the US last year that wasn't a truck or an SUV. With that, it's not surprising that Toyota held the global debut of the 9^th generation Camry in North America.

You read right, this is the all-new 2025 Toyota Camry, and boy was the automaker busy giving it a new look and plenty of new technologies. For starters, the all-new midsize sedan is now only available as a hybrid which makes it similar to the 8^th generation Camry Toyota PH is currently selling. Sorry V6 fans, the six-cylinder engine is no more.

Despite losing the six-cylinder option, this doesn't mean the hybrid-only Camry is a slouch. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is paired with two electric motors and produces a total system output of 228 PS. If you prefer something with slightly more oomph, there's also the AWD version which adds a third motor to the rear axle, boosting power to 235 PS.

Official performance figures have yet to be revealed, including the rated capacity of the lithium-ion battery pack. However, more details about the electrified powertrain could be revealed at a later date closer to its official launch in the North American market.

Moving over to its looks, Toyota was busy giving the all-new Camry a sharper exterior. It gets redesigned LED headlights, a bolder-looking front grille, and thinner LED taillights. 18-inch alloy wheels come as standard but higher-grade variants get the more stylish 19-inch set. There are also new colors available that are exclusive to the North American market; Ocean Gem and Heavy Metal.

Aside from the exterior, Toyota also gave the 2025 Camry a new interior. Borrowing inspiration from the all-new Crown, the restyled dashboard and center console give the cabin a more striking design. On high-grade variants, the interior can come with a two-tone hue or a sporty red finish, depending on the variant chosen.

When it comes to in-car amenities, all variants come with a keyless start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 which gives the midsize sedan a plethora of intelligent driver aids. Standard versions of the 2025 Camry only come with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment. High-grade models, meanwhile, get a 12.3-inch display for both the instrument panel and touchscreen display.

Other available features in the 2025 Camry include; wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a 10-inch heads-up display, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, heated/ventilated seats, aluminum pedals, LED ambient lighting, and smart key access.

With the 2025 Toyota Camry set to become available in North America soon, we won't be surprised if the all-new midsize sedan will make its way here sometime next year.
