All-new 2024 Chevrolet Trax confirmed for PH

A familiar crossover Chevrolet SUV is set to come back to the Philippines very soon.

After quietly leaving the market a few years ago, Chevrolet distributor The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI) has released a teaser video of the next-generation Trax. This marks the eventual return of the nameplate after a brief hiatus.

The exact details and specifications of the all-new Trax for the Philippines are unavailable as of this writing. But based on the video the automaker released over on Facebook, it will be available in the top-of-the-line RS trim. More importantly, it will look similar to what the North American markets currently have based on the quick shots Chevrolet teased.

First revealed late last year just before the holiday season, the all-new Trax gets a glow-up inside and out, comes with new and upgraded technologies, as well as a new 1.2-liter turbocharged powertrain.

The styling department gave the Chevrolet Trax a sleeker and more mature-looking design. The front end is dominated by a new large grille, thin LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and LED headlights that sit below the DRLs. The rear, on the other hand, comes with sharp wraparound taillights and a new tailgate. Last but not least, the PH-spec Trax could get 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of size, the all-new Trax measures 4540mm long, 1825mm wide, 1560mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2700mm. Side-by-side with the Tracker, the 2024 Trax is 270mm longer, 34mm wider, and has a longer 130mm wheelbase. The Tracker, however, is taller by 60mm compared to the Trax.

Open the doors and the Trax greets occupants with a modern and upscale interior. The dashboard comes with a pair of digital displays, one is the instrument panel while the other is the touchscreen infotainment system. On higher-grade versions, the touchscreen measures 11 inches while lesser variants come with a smaller 8-inch monitor. Features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic climate control, a host of USB charging ports, and push-button start are expected to be available once officially launched.

No powertrain options have been revealed as of now. But based on what North America (and Korea) gets, the PH-spec Trax may come with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder. It makes a respectable 139 PS along with a generous 219 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic torque converter.

With the Trax set to make a comeback, it will most likely slot above the Tracker and sit below the Trailblazer. Like the previous generation, it may also come from Korea. Sure, TCCCI could also source it from China to take advantage of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. However, it’s called the Seeker in the People’s Republic while the Korean version is named the Trax.
