After Avanza, Toyota PH will launch Veloz
There's a sportier-looking "Avanza" in Indonesia. When will PH get it?

Yesterday, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially launched the 2022 Toyota Avanza, sporting a new front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout together with a host of new features and revised looks both inside and out.
We were able to get a hold of the official specs and variants of the Avanza before its release, and some of our readers asked the same question we've wanted to ask Toyota: "Will the Veloz be offered here?"
According to a Toyota executive, the answer is yes. The Veloz is coming.

The Veloz model used to be a variant of the Avanza, but this time, the MPV is marketed as a standalone model and no longer bears the Avanza name. While they share the same platform, the Veloz distinguishes itself by having a different interior and exterior design. It is also packed with more features than the standard Avanza MPV, including Toyota Safety Sense.
The Philippine market version could likely follow the specs of the Indonesian market Veloz once it arrives. For starters, it gets a single engine option, which is the bigger 1.5-liter 2NR-VE Dual VVT-i inline-four. Furthermore, based on recent trends in the local industry, the MPV might not be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and could instead come standard with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

It's not a question of if but when. Our insider did not go into specifics, but one piece of information he gave us is that the Veloz will arrive in a few months' time. Stay tuned.
