670 HP Subaru WRX Project Midnight is ready for takeoff
Subaru WRX Project Midnight will make its presence felt at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Earlier this year, Subaru unleashed the 2025 WRX tS which comes with several mechanical and aerodynamic upgrades. From an STI-tuned suspension to Brembo brakes, as well as Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, the WRX tS is no ordinary Subaru.
But if you think Subaru is done revealing surprises, take a look at this. Say hello to the Subaru WRX Project Midnight, and boy does it look like it's ready to fly. Made possible by Subaru Motorsports USA, WRX Project Midnight combines a lightweight & aerodynamic body and a 2.0L turbocharged Boxer engine that generates supercar levels of horsepower. The result is a WRX that has one single goal – pure tarmac speed.

Starting with the exterior, the WRX Project Midnight has an ultra-wide aerodynamic carbon fiber body that makes the vehicle both lightweight and rigid. This makes the special one-off 454 kg lighter than a typical production WRX. It also has one heck of a rear wing in the back which is aimed at delivering improved downforce at high speeds. To ensure optimal grip over any terrain, WRX Project Midnight gets 280/65 Yokohama Advan tires shod in 18-inch OZ Racing Superturismo LMP magnesium wheels.
Powering the WRX Project Midnight is a boosted 2.0L flat-four engine that generates an impressive 670 PS and a whopping 920 Nm of torque. It can rev to 9500 rpm and spits flames from its hood-exit exhaust system. The unique powerplant is the most recent and top-performing evolution of Subaru Motorsports USA's highly successful rallycross engine.

“Subaru Motorsports USA and the team at Vermont SportsCar have delivered an absolute beast. When driving the car it clearly has rallycross roots, but the wider tires, track, and geometry give it a very unique feel and incredible grip. The ultimate driving machine; half RX, half sports car – a true joy to drive,” said Scott Speed, Subaru Motorsports USA driver.

WRX Project Midnight will officially be making its public debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed which is set from July 11 to 14. Subaru has yet to make an all-new WRX STI but with Project Midnight, it seems the automaker is not yet done making wild turbocharged creations.
