650 PS Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is coming to PH

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc (HMPH) is set to have a busy 2024. Aside from giving us a special preview of the all-new Santa Fe which will be launched in the country in Q1 of next year, the automaker is also set to introduce the Ioniq 5 N to the country as well.

During the speech of Mr. Dongwook Lee, the president of HMPH, he shared that we should expect more models to enter the market. And while he was delivering his speech, the IONIQ 5 N was shown on the screens. But unlike the Santa Fe, the executive did not share an exact timeline as to when the high-performance EV will make its way here.

Despite not getting an estimated date of arrival, we already know what to expect from the IONIQ 5 N. For starters, it will look sportier and more aggressive thanks to the N-exclusive add-ons. These include the distinct orange accents throughout the body, aerodynamic elements, a wing-type spoiler, and the stylish 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires just to name a few.

Even the interior was also given attention as it gets a rally-inspired makeover. It gets a thick leather steering wheel, paddle shifters, a pair of digital displays that serve as the instrument cluster/touchscreen media system, and Alcantara sport bucket seats with reinforced bolsters.

At the heart of the Ioniq 5 N is a large 84 kWh battery pack that powers a pair of electric motors that drive each axle - providing all-wheel drive capability. The two motors crank out a total system output of 650 PS which allows the hot hatch to sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.

Giving the vehicle better handling and rigidity was made possible thanks to Hyundai putting in 42 additional welding points and 2.1 meters of additional adhesives. In addition, the motor and battery mountings have been reinforced while the front and rear subframes have been enhanced for lateral rigidity.
