37.6-km Laguna Lakeshore Road Network will look like this

Back in November of last year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) signed a detailed engineering design (D.E.D.) contract for the construction of the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) project.

With it, the agency proposed a 37.6-km road that will connect Lower Bicutan with Calamba, Laguna. For now, the D.E.D. is currently being carried out and will last until February 2023. With construction yet to begin, we still have no idea what the project will look like once it's finished.

Fast forward to March 2022, and the DPWH has released several photos of what the LLRN project will look like. Presented during a kick-off meeting with the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) and other consultants, this is our best look yet at the soon-to-be-built road network that will link Calamba, Laguna with Lower Bicutan.

Based on the illustrations, the new Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LRRN) will have 3 lanes per direction. It will also have a total of 8 interchanges, namely: Sucat, Alabang, San Pedro/Binan, Santa Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba. Moreover, the proposed Sucat Interchange will have a trumpet-style design as seen from one of the images.

There will even be a cycling track and promenade from Tunasan, Muntinlupa to San Pedro, Laguna. The LLRN Project – Phase 1 will cover Laguna Lake's western side and will see the construction of a 37.6-km mainline road, 6.1-km local connecting roads, and 7.3-km interchanges and slip roads.

With the detailed engineering design still underway, we'll have to wait a little longer before any physical construction can begin. Still, we certainly do hope that the DPWH will be able to make this project a reality.
