2025 Geely Emgrand facelift looks...the same

Whenever automakers reveal (or release) an updated nameplate, the vehicle itself sports some noticeable changes here and there. From restyled headlights/taillights to a redesigned interior, more powerful engines, and new technologies, brands typically make sure to give refreshed models more than just a facelift.

However, it looks like Geely decided to give one of its vehicles a (very) modest refresh. Say hello to the 2025 Geely Emgrand, and yes the automaker describes it as a facelift. From the moment you see the front and rear fascias, it’s hard to see what exactly Geely changed for its design.

Perhaps the only noticeable update is the slightly tweaked grille design and finish. It still has a waterfall-style finish and 16 columns but other than what looks like a subtle change in its appearance and finish, the grille looks relatively the same. There is, however, a new silver Geely logo present in front of the grille for all to see.

Beyond that, however, the headlight and taillight designs appear to have been carried over. Even the alloy wheels and bumper intake bezels appear to have been retained for the facelifted version. What we have yet to see is the cabin as Geely has yet to release an image of the refreshed Emgrand’s interior. Perhaps this is where the automaker put most of its attention and has decided to keep everyone in suspense.

As for its powertrain, the 2025 Emgrand will likely continue to have a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine. Currently, the inline-four makes a decent 102 PS at 6600 rpm along with 142 Nm of pull between 4400 - 5600 rpm. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a CVT.

With the Emgrand only getting a very subtle facelift for the 2025 model year, it seems Geely went for the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach in redesigning the sedan. But with little to no changes, can we still call this an update or refresh? Let us know what you think in the comments.
