2024 Volkswagen Tharu launching in PH this month
Volkswagen Philippines confirms the launch of the Tharu C-segment crossover

Earlier this year, Volkswagen revealed the refreshed 2023 Tharu crossover in China. Serving as the brand's compact crossover, it slots above the T-Cross which competes in the B-segment crossover market.
After making its debut in China last February, Volkswagen Philippines has announced that the Tharu will be making its way to the country. Set to be launched by the end of September, the Tharu will serve as the automaker's compact crossover fighter and will compete against the likes of the MG HS, GAC GS4, Geely Azkarra, Changan CS55, and the Toyota Corolla Cross.

No exact details have been released by Volkswagen Philippines. But based on the image they have released, it will likely have similar specs and features as the one revealed in the People's Republic earlier this year.
The PH-spec Tharu may likely get a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood which makes 160 PS with 250 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels. There's also a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four that makes more power and torque at 186 PS and 320 Nm of torque. However, the bigger engine will not likely be offered as it will not adhere to the China-AFTA tax break.

Inside, the Tharu could be offered with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. A full leather upholstery could also be in the cards as well as a panoramic glass roof that invites more sky into the vehicle. Other features like dual-zone automatic climate control and LED ambient lighting might also make their way inside the PH-spec Tharu.
The 2024 Volkswagen Tharu will be launched in the Philippines on September 29.
