2024 Suzuki XL7 Hybrid has landed in SE Asia

The Ertiga Hybrid might soon be joined by another electrified vehicle in the not-so-distant future.

Officially making its ASEAN debut in Indonesia is the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid. Essentially the XL6 Hybrid minus the captain seats on the second row, the XL7 Hybrid gets the same 1.5-liter mild-hybrid powertrain as the Ertiga but comes in a more rugged (and high-riding) package.

Much like the Ertiga Hybrid that launched in the Philippines earlier this year, this particular XL7 also comes with the 1.5-liter Suzuki Smart Hybrid Vehicle system. It consists of the 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder engine that's assisted by an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), and a lithium-ion battery pack. The result is a total system output of 105 PS (+2 PS over the Ertiga) and 138 Nm of torque. Available transmissions include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

Since the high-riding MPV is now electrified, it benefits from several fuel-saving technologies. It gets an auto start/stop system while idling and regenerative braking that helps gather lost energy to recharge the 12V lithium-ion battery pack. It also comes with torque assist wherein the ISG helps deliver faster acceleration while under load.

Style-wise, the XL7 Hybrid slightly differs from the regular XL7. For starters, it gets an all-black grille, black 16-inch alloy wheels (high-grade versions only), as well as a black-painted roof which is an optional extra. It also gets a “Hybrid” badge on the tailgate to remind everyone that this is an electrified XL7.

Inside, the cabin of the XL7 Hybrid gets faux wood panels painted black, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a push-button start, an updated instrument cluster with a new multi-info display, and cruise control to further help improve the MPV's fuel efficiency while on the highway.

Since the XL7 Hybrid is now available in Indonesia, we might not have to wait long for its arrival in the Philippines. After all, according to an anonymous source from Suzuki Philippines (SPH), the XL7 Hybrid is set to arrive in the country.
