2024 Subaru Levorg Layback revealed with 200mm of ground clearance

If you have always wished the Levorg was taller and had a bit more ground clearance, well Subaru says “Wish granted, next.” Feast your eyes on the nameplate’s newest model, the Layback.

One look and you can tell this model is not your typical Levorg. It is 15 mm longer, 25 mm wider, and 70 mm taller than its wagon sibling, but more importantly, it gets an additional 55 mm lift to give it a 200 mm ground clearance.

The reason for its increased heft is the new body kit that gives it crossover looks like the reshaped bumpers and slimmer wraparound body cladding. It also gets a wider grille and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside are familiar Subaru creature comforts like the tablet-like infotainment system, the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, ambient lighting, and a Harman Kardon speaker system. It also has the same 561-liter cargo space as the standard Levorg.

Like all Subarus, the Layback will have the latest EyeSight safety system. It also carries over the Levorg’s 1.8-liter turbocharged flat-four engine that makes 177 PS and 300 Nm of torque. With its higher ground clearance and the marque’s renowned Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, imagine the places you can go with this crossover SUV.

Unfortunately, the Levorg Layback is only available in Japan for now. Hopefully, it gets more interest in the region so Subaru can bring it over. If it does make it to our shores, it will slot between the Crosstrek and the Legacy Outback.
