2024 Mitsubishi Triton Strada will have all-new chassis, turbo-diesel

We're roughly two weeks from Mitsubishi's official launch of the all-new 2024 Triton Strada in Bangkok, Thailand. So far, we've already seen several teaser images of the next-generation pickup truck, as well as Mitsubishi Ralliart putting several camouflaged trucks through their paces for this year's Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR).

But for the longest time, Mitsubishi has not revealed details about the pickup truck's powertrain and chassis...until now. To further whet the appetite of Mitsubishi fans and enthusiasts, the automaker finally discloses new information about the all-new Triton Strada.

For starters, the company announced that the pickup will use a newly-developed ladder frame chassis. Mitsubishi did not go into specifics although they did say that the new ladder frame will achieve “safe, secure, and comfortable driving for any weather or road conditions”. In addition, Mitsubishi mentioned that it has a new double-wishbone front suspension and leaf spring rear that will deliver excellent driving performance and good ride comfort.

There's also the new clean turbo-diesel engine that will power the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton Strada. No exact displacement or output figures were revealed but the automaker did say that it will have significantly reduced friction loss, as well as produces higher output.

With Mitsubishi still coy about the new turbo-diesel, our best guess is that it's an improved version of the 2.4-liter 4N15 that's currently seeing use in the outgoing Montero Sport and Triton Strada. In addition, it could also be the 2.4-liter 4N16 that's powering the Nissan Urvan in Japan, albeit tuned to crank out more horsepower and torque.

In addition, we have interviewed various customers about their usages and needs, and have repeatedly conducted development tests to meet the demands of a vehicle that works in a harsh environment. We are confident that this model will satisfy all customers around the world, from leisure use to commercial use. Please look forward to the unveiling of the all-new Triton,” said Yoshiki Masuda, Chief Production Specialist at Mitsubishi Motors.

With the official launch still two weeks away, it's still anyone's guess as to what exactly powers the all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton Strada. Hopefully, Mitsubishi reveals more details in the coming days before the big reveal.
