2024 Hyundai Santa Fe full specs revealed, no turbo-diesel

We’ve already seen the first images of the all-new 2024 Santa Fe. No longer sporting a sleek and curvaceous design,  Hyundai designers styled the next-generation midsize crossover SUV into a boxy and more luxurious vehicle. In addition, the automaker maximized its interior space to attract those that wish to treat the Santa Fe into a vehicle fit for the great outdoors.

Now, Hyundai has released the full specs and details of the 2024 Santa Fe. To begin, let’s start with the available engine choices for the next-generation crossover SUV.

First up is the 2.5-liter Theta III naturally-aspirated four-cylinder that makes 194 PS with 246 Nm of torque and is connected to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Then there’s the turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter mill which cranks out 281 PS and 421 Nm of torque. This one also gets an 8-speed transmission but the dual-clutch kind.

Up next is the 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four called the Gamma III. This one produces 180 PS with 265 Nm of torque and is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Last but not least is the electrified version of the 1.6-liter Gamma III. Not only does it come with a turbocharged engine but it’s also a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Power is slightly down at 160 PS while torque remains the same at 265 Nm. However, we reckon its total system output is higher than the regular 1.6 turbo although we might have to wait for Hyundai to reveal it in the future.

Unfortunately, there was no mention of turbo-diesel engines for the all-new Santa Fe, perhaps for now at least.

In terms of size, the all-new Santa Fe comes in at 4830mm long, 1900mm wide, 1720mm, and has a 2815mm wheelbase. Side-by-side with the current Santa Fe we currently get, the crossover SUV is longer by 45mm, taller by 10mm, and gets an extra 50mm on its wheelbase. Width remains the same, however.

While the extra exterior dimensions appear to have been minimal, Hyundai was able to increase both cabin space and cargo space. Second-row legroom has been increased to 1,075mm (extra 35mm) while the hybrid version has been increased by 20mm to 1,055mm. Third-row legroom was also made more spacious thanks to a 15mm increase to 761mm.

Headroom height for the third row was also given attention as Hyundai says it has gone up by 69mm to 958mm. For better relaxation for those seating in the third row, the rear-most seats can recline 10 degrees more.

Need to load up on cargo? Luggage space with the third-row seats down sees the crossover SUV carry 725 liters worth of cargo which is an increase of 91 liters over the outgoing generation. The tailgate opening width now measures 1275mm wide which is 145mm more than its predecessor.

Depending on the variant a customer is getting, the Santa Fe can come with 6 seats (captain seats on the second row) or as a 7-seater (full bench for the second row). The Relaxation Seats, which was first revealed for the Ioniq 5, are available on the 2024 Santa Fe and can be electronically controlled. There’s even a 6.6-inch touchscreen for easy manipulation of the four-zone climate control.

Other available features for the all-new Santa Fe include power-reclining seats for the second row with armrests, a USB Type-C charging port (rated at 27W), a UV-C sterilization tray placed on top of the passenger glove compartment, remote control access to the vehicle via a smartphone app, and high-tech touchscreen infotainment.

The all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is set to go on sale in Korea this August while other markets like Europe and North America will get it in the first half of 2024. With that, perhaps we can expect the next-generation crossover SUV to arrive in PH in Q2 of next year.
