2024 Honda CR-V: Starts at PHP 2.15 million?

Two months ago, we were able to get confirmation that Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) will be bringing the all-new 2024 CR-V to the country. More importantly, we learned that the powertrain options of the next-generation crossover include a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo inline-four, and the 2.0-liter e:HEV hybrid. Sorry turbo-diesel fans, the 1.6-liter i-DTEC engine has been discontinued.

So we already know that the 2024 CR-V will be available in both ICE and HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) flavors. But how many variants will be offered and what will be its starting price in the Philippines? HCPI has yet to release any official information about the all-new CR-V despite the crossover being sighted recently on local roads.

Fortunately, we were able to get insider information about the new generation CR-V, and boy were we surprised with what we found. According to several anonymous sources, the 2024 Honda CR-V will supposedly be available in three variants and will reportedly start at over PHP 2.1 million.

Based on our insider, the range will begin with the 1.5 Turbo CVT 2WD which will supposedly retail for PHP 2.150 million. Next is the mid-grade 1.5 Turbo CVT 4WD that will apparently be sold for PHP 2.3 million. Last but not least is the top-of-the-line 2.0 e:HEV CVT which will reportedly have an image price of PHP 2.6 million. However, the e:HEV version could drop its price by PHP 10,000 which means it might sell for slightly cheaper at PHP 2.590 million.

At these (supposed) prices, the all-new Honda CR-V will become significantly more expensive. Currently, the outgoing model starts at just PHP 1.763 million for the entry-level 2.0 gas. The mid-range 1.6 S Diesel with Sensing retails for PHP 2.030 million while the range-topping 1.6 SX Diesel AWD with Sensing is selling for PHP 2.290 million.

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons why the CR-V will get a huge price increase is the possibility that all variants will now come with Honda Sensing. Locally, all the variants of the Honda Civic and the recently launched 2024 Honda City now come with Sensing as standard.

Official specifications are not yet available at this time. But a quick look at what Thailand gets and we already have an idea of what to expect. First up, the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo puts out 190 PS at 6000 rpm along with 240 Nm of torque between 1700 to 5000 rpm. Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter e:HEV has a total system output of 184 PS and 335 Nm of torque. Both the VTEC Turbo and e:HEV variants are paired to a CVT.

With the launch of the 2024 Honda CR-V supposedly set for September, we might not have to wait that long for the all-new crossover to make its local debut.
