2024 Ford Mustang: Is the Ecoboost coming to PH?

There are more reasons to get excited about the all-new Ford Mustang's arrival in the country.

Aside from the fact that Ford Philippines is looking to launch the pony car within the “-ber” months, recently we've also come across the information that it will have V8 power. But wait, there's more.

Apparently, the Blue Oval has also received government approval for a passenger vehicle with a 2.3-liter engine. Currently, that displacement points out to no other than a Ford Ecoboost engine powering the likes of the Ranger, Everest, and even the Bronco in markets outside the Philippines.

But upon checking the reference weight of the vehicle, that gave us a clearer answer: the 2.3-liter four-banger that was approved belongs under the hood of the seventh-generation Ford Mustang.

Like the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, Ford made some improvements to the 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine of the S650 Mustang. In the US-spec version, the unit is now making 319 PS and 475 Nm of torque due to the new twin-scroll turbocharger that has an electronic wastegate, as well as the engine benefitting from both direct and port fuel injection.

However, the Mustang Ecoboost in the US doesn't come with a 6-speed manual option and is only being offered with a 10-speed auto that drives the rear wheels. It's likely to be the same in the country once the all-new Mustang is officially launched.

While muscle car purists would still prefer the V8, there are also those who like the balance that the Ecoboost engine brought to the Mustang when it was first offered in the sixth-generation model.
