2024 EX30 EV is Volvo's quickest production car yet
Volvo debuts 2024 EX30 as its cheapest EV and quickest production car

While many would choose a combustion vehicle for the aural experience, there's one thing an EV does very well compared to its gas-powered counterpart – and that is instant acceleration.
Think of maximum torque at 0 rpm. That's what vehicles like the 2024 Volvo EX30 EV does.

Volvo has launched its smallest crossover and EV in Milan. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for with the way it sprints. The EX30 Twin Motor Performance variant packs a total system output of 428 PS and 543 Nm, putting the power down on all four wheels. The result? A 0 to 100 km/h time of only 3.6 seconds.
Also, Volvo optimized the EX30 to maximize its compact dimensions (4233 mm long, 1837 mm wide, and 1555 mm tall). It has a low center of gravity and a curb weight of 1,830 kg. Hence, the power-to-weight ratio did the trick in making the EX30 the brand's quickest production car yet.
But if you want something a little less powerful for maximum range, there is a rear-wheel-drive, Single Motor Extended Range variant. It produces 268 PS and 343 Nm of torque while reaching a max range of up to 480 km.

The EX30 has an NMC battery that features lithium, nickel, manganese, and cobalt. Volvo says it produces energy more efficiently than an LFP (lithium iron phosphate). When it comes to charging, the extended-range Twin Motor variant has a capacity of 153 kW, while the standard range version has 134 kW. When plugged into a DC fast charger, the EX30 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just over 25 minutes.
In terms of looks, the EX30 adopts most of the styling cues of the EX90. It has the closed shield grille, the Thor's hammer headlights, as well as a split taillight arrangement at the back. While it's smaller, the muscular wheel arches give the EX30 a more athletic look than the flagship EX90.

Inside, the EX30 has a minimalist interior design. The dashboard only features a 12.3-inch screen at the center, plus a soundbar at the upper portion just under the windshield. Customers can choose between four interior themes and five ambient lighting options. Those are likewise paired with an ambient soundscape to set the mood inside.

Volvo is now offering the EX30 in select markets. And beginning in 2024, they will add the EX30 Cross Country – the higher and more adventure-ready variant of the subcompact EV.
