2024 Acura Integra Type S more powerful than USDM Civic Type R
2024 Acura Integra Type S is a different take on the FL5 Civic Type R

The Acura Integra and Honda Civic may have been sharing a lot of mechanical bits throughout their generations. But for some reason, they've managed to co-exist without eating a chunk of each other's sales. Now that the Integra nameplate has returned to the US market, apparently, that trend is set to continue, even in their high-performance variants.
Honda's luxury brand is set to reveal the 2024 Integra Type S next month, which is essentially the FL5 Civic Type R in Acura clothing.
We already got to see it last year, albeit wearing a camouflaged livery. It had larger wheels, a wider body and it has the Type R's triple exhaust tip.
Back then, Acura said the Integra Type S will put out over 300 PS. And now, they've announced the exact output figures of its 2.0-liter, four-cylinder VTEC Turbo engine – 320 HP and 420 Nm of torque. Wait. Those numbers seem familiar, right?

Well here's the thing. Over in the US, the Honda Civic Type R's engine produces 315 HP and 420 Nm of torque, which means the Type S will have slightly more power than the Type R. Note that we're also using HP instead of PS because of the Imperial system. Like the Type R, the Integra Type S will be solely available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and will likewise be fitted with an LSD.
Acura says the Integra Type S will have premium appointments, so we can expect a different flavor in the cabin compared to the sporty and loud nature of the FL5. We do like the red seats on the Type R, but not all will want the same - that's probably Acura's target market for the Integra Type S.
The high-performance Acura will make its official debut at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, which will take place from April 14 to 16, 2023.
