2023 Toyota Innova: First pics of PH's best-selling MPV leaked online

Yes, that's correct: it seems someone has spilled the beans (well, the pictures) with the next generation Toyota Innova just before its official grand reveal, and over Instagram no less. Still, based on the leaked pictures, the new Innova seems to a much sleeker exterior as well as a fresh new cabin from 2023 onwards. And judging by the images, we like what we’re seeing.

Starting with its flashier looks, the 2023 Innova gets a new hexagonal grille that’s paired to sleeker set of what appears to be LED headlights on high-grade variants. It also gets a new stylish bumper that comes with LED daytime running lights that give the MPV a more discerning appearance. Meanwhile, the hood and side profile of the 2023 Innova looks like it was inspired by the Corolla Cross.

Despite reportedly switching to a unibody platform, the next-gen MPV appears to still have generous ground clearance given its seemingly tall ride height. In addition, the MPV comes with black body cladding that provides it with a rugged look still.

But what really impressed us with the all-new Innova is the interior. Not only does it look more premium and upscale, but the rumored switch from RWD to FWD is also becoming more obvious. It gets a new dash-mounted gear selector that sits just below the new automatic climate control panel. Meanwhile, free-standing touchscreen infotainment sits proudly in the center of the dashboard.

Also worth mentioning inside the new MPV is what looks like a layered dashboard design and a two-tone theme. There’s also what looks like a wireless charging pad on the center console, a new leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a new instrument panel complete with a multi-info display.

No powertrain details have been revealed just yet. But based on the tachometer seen in the leak, it looks like it will be available with a gasoline engine. Whereas most turbo-diesel Innovas have a redline of around 4,000 rpm, the one in the leaked images features a 6,500 rpm redline which is mostly associated with gasoline-powered motors.

A hybrid powertrain is also likely to be available although most new hybrids released by Toyota nowadays don’t feature a rev counter or tachometer. This can be seen in the Corolla Cross, Camry, RAV4, and Prius.

We can also expect the next-generation Innova to come with Safety Sense on higher-grade models given the amount of steering wheel controls on the leaked cabin image. That means intelligent driver aids like lane-tracing assist, dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system, as well as automatic high-beam.
