2023 Porsche 911 Dakar to debut at LA Auto Show
Off-road 911 is a nod to Porsche's overall victory in the 1984 Paris-Dakar rally

Supercars, as we know it, are starting to evolve in an un-”supercar” way. While we're expecting them to go faster and become more efficient, the folks at the Volkswagen Group have done something that's completely different.

After the announcement of the all-terrain Huracan as Lamborghini's last non-hybrid, its sister brand Porsche is also gearing up to unveil another supercar that has go-anywhere capabilities. Come November 16 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche is bringing their first production off-road sports car - the 911 Dakar.
Porsche chose the Dakar moniker as a nod to the modified 911 that won the famous Paris-Dakar rally back in 1984. It was the first 911 that was fitted with an all-wheel-drive system, which later made its way to series production with the technologically-advanced 959 supercar, and later on to Carrera 4S and Turbo 911 models.

The German manufacturer's development team tested the 911 Dakar to the most extreme conditions, ranging from sub-zero temperatures in Sweden to the scorching hot Dubai and Moroccan desert, racking up more than 10,000 kilometers of off-road mileage.
For now, Porsche has not revealed the specifications of the 911 Dakar, but the off-road supercar is expected to have all-wheel-drive and all-terrain tires as standard.
