2023 Mercedes-AMG G63 Squared going out with a banG
Mercedes-AMG goes all out with their last combustion-powered G-Wagen

The electrification of vehicles is taking casualties. Mercedes-Benz (MB) is the latest as they announce, via their G-Class Private Lounge website, the latest G63 AMG Wagon. It will be the last fully petrol version. MB head of Production Management for G-Class Toni Mäntele revealed that the luxury SUV will combine the nameplate's off-road prowess with AMG power and will be dubbed “the Most G-Class ever”.

Under the hood, the new G63 4x4 Squared will feature AMG’s latest twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. It produces 585 PS and 850 Nm of torque. This will be a significant improvement from the previous model. The four-wheel-drive system and the 9-speed transmission have been carried over.

Inspired by the suspension of the MB-AMG G63 6x6, the new SUV will have an improved 4x4 system. It comes with portal axles, a higher ride height, and an independent suspension. The new G63 AMG is touted as a better and more capable off-roader than the non-squared models. As a result, the G63 AMG will give you 13.8-inches of ground clearance, over 900mm of water wading capability, and the ability to head up 45-degree inclines.

The 4x4 Squared rides on 22-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. Wide fenders, roof-mounted LEDs, special green color, and plenty of carbon fiber accents. Customers will also have the ability to customize their G63 AMG. From a range of 40 colors, add-on roof racks, ladders in the rear and more off-road accessories, the G63 AMG Squared has plenty of available options indeed.

With this being an AMG, you will find more carbon fiber when you climb inside. The opulent interior comes in Nappa leather and you can even customize the D-cut steering wheel in Dinamica leather too. Ambient LED lighting, color-themed diamond stitching, and a digitized rearview mirror are some of the features that come standard in the new model. What is very noticeable though is the massive fully digital dual screen that's accompanied by a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel where you can find the gauges and infotainment system.

There's no official pricing yet but Mercedes-AMG said that it will be available for a limited time and that it will be the last of its kind. With an “expiry date” put on petrol cars by the EU, Mercedes-Benz has aimed this uncompromising and extravagant SUV at the G-Class faithful.
