2023 Lotus Eletre EV has 905 HP in top-spec R trim
Lotus announces variants of the Eletre, its first-ever EV SUV

Earlier in the year, Lotus came up with the Eletre EV, joining the likes of other sports car marques Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Jaguar in the British super SUV party.
Months after its launch, Lotus has shared a few more details about the Eletre now that they are inching closer to releasing the SUV to the public.

For one, the Eletre is available in three trims: the standard Eletre, Eletre S, and the Eletre R. And yes, you guessed it, the R is the high-performance version. The standard model already puts out an impressive 603 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque, but the top-spec trim takes things further up, packing a dual-speed system for its electric motor that puts out 905 horsepower and 985 Nm.

With hypercar territory power figures comes hypercar territory performance in acceleration. The Eletre R can go from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 2.95 seconds. Compared to the standard version and Eletre S needs 4.5 seconds for that sprint, the Eletre R is indeed quick. Keep your foot planted on the accelerator and the Eletre R will reach a top speed of 265 km/h.

All that power, of course, comes with its own drawbacks. While the three variants share the same 112 kWh battery pack, the Eletre R's electric motor consumes more juice and thus, gets a shorter max range of 490 km rather than 600 km on a single charge.
Aside from the increased electric power, the Eletre R also comes exclusive with Track Mode, which lowers and stiffens the suspension, plus launch control for that holeshot. Other standard specifications for the Eletre R include the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack, Carbon Fiber Pack, gloss black wheels, stainless steel sports pedals, black badging, and high-performance tires.

The 2023 Lotus Eletre will go on sale first in China, the UK, and Europe, with customer deliveries set to begin early next year. Other markets meanwhile may have to wait until at least 2024 for the arrival of the electric SUV.
