2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee launches in PH March 29

A few weeks ago, Jeep Philippines sent us a teaser image of its latest vehicle. At the time, we originally thought that they were going to reveal the 2023 Commander/Meridian.

Fast forward and Jeep Philippines has confirmed to us that it will not be the Commander after all. Instead, the automaker has announced that two weeks from now, they will be revealing the all-new Grand Cherokee.

Standard wheelbase Grand Cherokee

First revealed back in 2021, the all-new Grand Cherokee is now on its fifth generation and now sits on the FCA Giorgio platform shared with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Across the Pacific, the 2023 Grand Cherokee comes in two body styles, the long-wheelbase L and the non-L standard wheelbase. We will be getting the former.

The long wheelbase L version gives the SUV three rows of seats and a choice between seven seats (second-row bench) or six seats (captain seats on the second row). A wide array of powertrain options are available for the 2023 Grand Cherokee. The range starts with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 which puts out 293 PS and 348 Nm of torque. There’s also the more powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that churns out 364 PS and 529 Nm of torque. Both engines are coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Grand Cherokee L

Last but not least is the 2.0-liter 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain. It consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that’s helped along by an electric motor and a 17 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Jeep claims this gives the electrified SUV a total system output of 375 PS with 637 Nm of pull and a pure electric range of 40 km fully charged. It is also connected to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

With two weeks to go before it’s revealed, we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any new details or possible leaks of the all-new Grand Cherokee.
