2023 Hongqi H5 has sights set on PH luxury sedan market
Hongqi's luxury sedan fighter looks lean and mean

The E-HS9 is not the only luxury vehicle Hongqi will be launching to the public soon.
Besides having the fully-electric flagship in its lineup, the luxury Chinese automaker has also brought the H5 luxury sedan to the Philippines. Now on its latest generation, the all-new H5 is the brand’s executive sedan and is powered by a turbocharged engine, and is brimming with amenities and features.

Starting with its design, the H5 gets an imposing front end that appears to have been inspired by Mercedes-Benz. The front fascia is dominated by a massive grille complete with 12 slats. It is then complemented by a large chrome trim piece and a distinct red accent that’s placed at the center of the grille and hood. And just like the E-HS9, the H5 comes with a two-tier headlight design that further highlights the vehicle’s unmistakable look.
Around the back, the H5 gets an almost similar taillight design as the flagship E-HS9. Not only does it have full-width LED taillights, but it also comes with L-shaped corners that make it stand out from the rest. Other exterior details present on the H5 include; faux exhaust finishers, a center chrome trim piece, and multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the H5 features a Porsche-like dashboard that gives it a sporty yet opulent look and feel. Like the E-HS9, the H5 comes with a full leather interior with certain models available with a red hue, depending on customer preference. Sitting proudly at the center is a tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system that manages the vehicle’s onboard amenities.
It’s also available with massaging seats for the front and rear passengers, automatic climate control with rear vents, a digital instrument cluster, a flashy center console with an electro-mechanical gear selector, rear charging ports, and an electronic parking brake.

The official powertrain specs for the H5 are not yet available. However, Hongqi did mention that there will be two engines available. First is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo that makes 169 PS and is coupled to a 7-speed DCT. The other engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that puts out 224 PS and is married to an 8-speed automatic.

Pricing for the all-new Hongqi H5 is not yet available as well. The automaker did share, however, that the 1.5-liter turbo will be priced around PHP 2.1 to PHP 2.2 million. Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter turbo could be priced between PHP 2.5 to PHP 2.6 million.
More details of the H5 (and E-HS9) will be revealed soon.
