2023 Honda CR-V e:PHEV can travel over 900 km

During the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show, we saw Honda hold the regional debut of the all-new Honda CR-V for Southeast Asia. Now on its sixth generation, the crossover not only gets a brand new look inside and out, but it's now available with an electrified powertrain via the e:HEV technology.

The hybrid CR-V consists of a 2.0-liter engine, two electric motors, and a lithium-ion battery pack. It makes a total system output of 184 PS and an impressive 335 Nm of torque. It is then paired with an e-CVT and an AWD system. The 1.6-liter i-DTEC turbo-diesel is no more, but prospective owners will be happy to know that the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo is available and it makes 190 PS and 240 Nm of torque.

With Honda introducing its e:HEV hybrid technology to more vehicles, the automaker wants to make electrified driving more widely available to customers across different segments. Over in China, Honda Dongfeng has revealed another electrified CR-V and this time it's a plug-in hybrid. This is the 2023 Honda CR-V e:PHEV.

From a design standpoint, it gets the same exterior and interior look as the CR-V launched in Thailand recently. From the distinct grille up front to the stylish alloy wheels as well as the high-tech dashboard, this CR-V has the works. Perhaps the only telltale sign that this is the e:PHEV is the push-button style gear selector. Remember, the ASEAN-spec CR-V launched in Thailand still comes with a lever.

What makes this electrified CR-V different is that it has a charging port on the front fender. That is there to charge the vehicle's 17 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This then assists the CR-V's 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four and a pair of electric motors. In total, the vehicle makes a combined system output of 215 PS and 335 Nm of torque.

But since this is a plug-in hybrid, this CR-V can travel on pure electric power for 73 km based on the WLTC standard. What's even more impressive is that Honda claims the CR-V e:PHEV can cover 916 km before it needs to refuel or recharge. This is backed up by Honda's additional claim that the crossover can average 62.11 km/l.
