2023 Ford Everest makes regional debut in Bangkok Motor Show

Ford is not resting on its laurels at this year's Bangkok International Motor Show. Aside from revealing the Ranger Raptor for the ASEAN market, the Blue Oval has also debuted the next-generation Everest.

First revealed earlier this March, the 2023 Everest gets an all-new look inside and out, more high-tech features, improved powertrains, tweaked suspension, and additional intelligent drive aids.

Starting with its dimensions, the all-new Everest is bigger than the model it will be replacing. At 4914mm long, 1923mm wide, and 1842mm tall, the all-new SUV is 21mm longer, 61mm wider, and 6mm taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also been stretched from 2850mm to 2900mm, giving passengers more interior and cargo space. Despite the added heft, water wading depth has been retained at 800mm.

Style-wise, the Everest gets a new face that's inspired by its pickup sibling, the Ranger. The new C-shaped headlight clusters, together with the stylish new grille, give the SUV a more sophisticated look. Around the back, Ford gave the Everest new LED taillights with an L-shaped element, along with a clean bumper design that does away with the faux skid plate.

Inside, the Everest also gets the same interior design as the Ranger. From the new electro-mechanical gear selector, tablet-inspired touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, restyled aircon vents, and redesigned seats, Ford made sure the SUV is up-to-date.

As before, the Everest comes with three rows of seats. However, Ford says that accessing the third row is now easier as the second row can slide further forward than before. There’s also a 60:40 split for the second row, while the third row comes with a 50:50 split. For those that need to carry cargo, the second and third-row seats fully fold flat.

Under the hood, the Everest is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBlue four-cylinder engine. In lesser versions, it has a single turbo-diesel that makes 170 PS with 405 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, higher-grade versions benefit from a bi-turbo system that pushes out 210 PS plus 500 Nm of torque. Available transmissions include a six-speed automatic and a 10-speed automatic.

Ford installed new dampers to give the Everest a more comfortable ride. At the same time, the automaker also updated the suspension system in order to make it more capable off-road. Intelligent driver aids are now also available on the 2023 Everest. These include Lane-Keeping System with Road-Edge Detection, Evasive Steer Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, Blind Spot Information System, Pre-collision Assist with Intersection Functionality, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-And-Go.

With Ford Thailand now offering the all-new Everest, expect other ASEAN markets (including the Philippines) to receive the next-generation SUV soon.
