2023 Ford Everest: All-new seven seater SUV finally revealed

After revealing the all-new Ranger last year and the new Ranger Raptor last month, Ford has now revealed another highly anticipated model – the all-new Everest. Like its pick-up truck sibling, the 2022 Everest is new inside, outside, and underneath with a new range of engines, giving customers more options to choose from.

Ford gave us an early preview of the new Everest through teaser images last month. Now that the camouflage is gone, we have our best look at the SUV yet. Like its predecessor, the new Everest shares a similar face with the Ranger. It adopts the new C-clamp LED headlights and the bolder grille with a thick horizontal slat. However, the similarities end there. The bumper and fog light housings are unique to the Everest.

Along the side, the window profile is similar to that of the outgoing model with a C-shaped rear quarter glass. This new model does have a thicker D-pillar and a smaller quarter window as opposed to its predecessor. There’s also a new front fender badge design, making the SUV look more aggressive.

The biggest change can be found at the rear. The 2023 Everest features a new set of LED taillights with an L-shaped element and looks nothing like the one before. Ford also ditched the faux skid plate design on the bumper and opted for a cleaner, more urban look.

Step inside, and it’s similar to what you’d find in the new Ranger. The dashboard is modern with a larger vertical touchscreen infotainment system that uses Ford’s latest SYNC 4A system sitting front and center. Depending on the trim, it measures either 10.1" or 12" in size. In front of the driver are a new steering wheel and a digital instrument panel measuring 8" or 12.3". No more analog clusters here.

Like before, the Everest still comes with three rows of seats. Ford claims accessing the third row is now easier as the second row can slide further forward than before. There’s also a 60:40 split for the second row, while the third row comes with a 50:50 split. For those that need to carry cargo, the second and third-row seats fully fold flat.

Under the hood, there are various engines available to choose from for the 2023 Everest – a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6, a 2.3-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine (probably not for PH market), and the familiar 2.0-liter diesel inline-four in single or bi-turbo configuration. Depending on the engine, the SUV is paired with either a 6-speed automatic or the new 10-speed SelectShift automatic. Specific power outputs of each engine have yet to be revealed but expect them to be released at a later date.

Aside from the new engine, Ford also upgraded the suspension of the Everest to make it more capable off-road. Water wading depth is still rated at 800mm, but the dampers have been tweaked for better ride on-road and improved handling off-road. There are even dedicated off-road displays to help the driver negotiate obstacles.

Safety-wise, the 2023 Everest now comes with adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering. Other safety features include Lane-Keeping System with Road-Edge Detection, Evasive Steer Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, Blind Spot Information System, and Pre-collision Assist with Intersection Functionality.

The 2023 Everest will be available with three variants – Sport, Titanium+, and Platinum. By the looks of it, the Trend variant has been dropped, while the Sport now sits as the entry-level model. The Titanium+ is no longer the top-of-the-line model, as the Platinum will take its place.

There’s no word yet when Ford Philippines will launch the 2023 Everest (and the 2022 Ranger), but we hope it won’t take too long. for
