2023 Daihatsu Terios is our first look at refreshed Toyota Rush

It looks like we can expect the Toyota Rush to get a facelift soon.

That’s because over in Indonesia, its Daihatsu twin from which Toyota based the Rush has just been updated. Say hello to the 2023 Daihatsu Terios, and it’s our first look at what the refreshed Toyota Rush could eventually look like.

Since the three-row SUV-style MPV first made its debut way back in 2017, the facelift has been a long time coming. Starting with its face, the Terios gets a slimmer grille which now only connects the new smoked LED headlights. Then there’s the front bumper which was also revamped with a new lower air intake.

Another noticeable change on the exterior of the Terios is the new foglight bezels which are now more prominent and are accompanied by vertical LED daytime running lights. It also comes with a new front lip finished in silver that makes the front end stand out more. Last but not least, there are newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels.

Whereas the exterior of the Terios received a prominent update, the interior has a more subtle makeover. The cabin gets an all-black finish and is complemented by contrast stitching finished in red. There are now soft pads as well on the dashboard which gives the Terios a better look and feel.

When it comes to features, the 2023 Terios is available with the following; Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, a 360-degree around view monitor, automatic engine start/stop, and leather seats. On the safety front, the Terios now comes with a total of six airbags for extra peace of mind in an event of an accident.

Just like the Rush, the updated Terios continues to be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i. It makes 104 PS with 136 Nm of torque and can be mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

With the 2023 Terios now in Indonesia, it might not be long before Toyota also updated the Rush. But does this mean we’ll be getting the updated 7-seater SUV-style MPV in the Philippines soon? Watch this space.
