2023 Avenger EV revealed: Jeep is going electric

If Jeep can’t protect the Earth from harmful emissions, it will just launch the all-new, battery-electric vehicle (BEV) Avenger to make sure they’re part of the solution and not the pollution.

The 2023 Jeep Avenger is the brand’s first BEV and it boasts of outstanding ground clearance, approach, and departure angles, and even has standard Selec-Terrain® and Hill Descent Control as standard.

Jeep introduces a fresh electric powertrain in the 2023 Avenger with a new electric motor and a new 54 kWh battery. It has a 400-volt system that was made in collaboration with Emotors. The total output is 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, which can take it as far as 550 kilometers in the urban cycle. Charging with a 100 kW Mode 4 cable using DC current takes it from 20 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes. An 11 kW Mode 3 cable using AC current can get it from 0 to 100 percent in 5.5 hours.

The Avenger is the first front-wheel drive Jeep with the Selec-Terrain® system that comes with six drive modes, Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, and Sand. One of its best features is the height that gives it a 200-mm ground clearance, a 20-degree approach angle, 20-degree breakover angle, and a 32-degree departure angle.

Like all Jeeps, the Avenger has the marque’s seven-slot grille, bulging fenders, and trapezoidal wheel arches. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a floating C-pillar, and signature taillights inspired by the classic X fuel cans. Each model has skid plates, wraparound body cladding, and encased headlamps.

All Avengers have a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth audio streaming. The digital cluster varies between a seven and 10.25-inch version depending on the trim level. The cabin offers electronically-adjustable leather seats with a massage function, ambient lighting, a sunroof, a hands-free power tailgate, and plenty of storage space. The trunk can accommodate 380 liters of cargo.

Jeep also made sure the Avenger is one of the safest B-segment SUVs in the market with advanced safety features including Level 2 autonomous driving with Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering, Traffic Sign Recognition, Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, Drowsy Driver Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keeping Assist, 360° parking sensors with Active Park Assist, and 180° rear camera with drone view.
